    French Overseas Territory under curfew following changes in Paris to voting bill

    “Soldiers from the armed forces have been deployed to secure the New Caledonia ports and the airport,” Prime Minister Gabriel Attal announced in Paris.

    France declared a 12-day state of emergency in the Overseas Territory of New Caledonia, following riots and arson that left at least four people killed. The trigger of the violence came after the French assembly in Paris passed a contentious voting bill, according to New Caledonia High Commissioner Louis Le Franc, who said that “a curfew and a ban on TikTok” were now in force.

    Rioting in French Overseas Territory over voting rights diluting indigenous Kanaks influence

    Some 200 often armed youths seemed to be leading the violence targeting police with warnings officers would eventually be forced to return fire unless this ceased.

    The government of the French Overseas Territory of New Caledonia, to the east of Australia appealed to security forces and issued a 12-hour overnight curfew for Tuesday night following violent protests and rioting in the capital Noumea.

    BRICS Bank comes to Rio Grande do Sul's rescue

    The Shanghai-based New Development Bank (NDB) will grant funding worth R$ 5.7 billion (US$ 1.1 billion) to rebuild the Brazilian State of Rio Grande do Sul still grappling to recover from the unprecedented storms since April 29, Agencia Brasil reported Tuesday. The NDB, also known as the BRICS Bank, will release the money through a partnership with the Banco do Brasil (BB), the National Bank for Economic and Social Development (Banco Nacional de Desenvolvimento Econômico e Social - BNDES), and the Regional Development Bank of the Far South (Banco Regional de Desenvolvimento do Extremo Sul - BRDE).
